So I am looking at getting a nice little 250cc off roader. I was just wondering what the story is with paperwork for an off road vehicle.
As far as I knew all motor bikes & cars required some sort of paperwork so that you have proof of ownership.
I know for a normal road car or bike that you get the vehicle registration cert but is this also required for a bike that will never be used on the road?
If not how do you know if a bike was stolen or not??? huh.gif

I have two bikes without papers, a trials bike and an XR400. I think you only need paperwork for a bike if you use it on a public road anyway.
The trials bike never had papers to the best of my knowledge. I suppose you treat whether it's stolen or not much like you would any other
second hand item, if it looks or sounds dodgy then....:augie

Everything has some form or other of paper work.
On off road vehicles the least that should be available is a Receipt.
Everything has a Frame/chasis number , Its usually on the stalk ,
get it , check it , or ask a Local Gard to give it a whirl on their Puter !
