3 season trousers that don't boil your nadgers in summer?...

What works depends on your summer. Up here in Scotland having laminate trousers, with vents works 99% of the time as we don't often see temperatures above 30 deg C, and have many miles of open roads.

and some won’t ever go beyond army surplus, preferably with the tactical ’cammo’ look, as everything else is a rip-off. They’ll of course also have a bivvy bag and a stove (of sorts) that runs on paint stripper. They latter they’ll also drink.

Had a look in today whilst in Motorrad having a software update carried out on the bike (which improved the ESA damping rates, but that's an aside) and decided to have a look at some of their gear. Really nice quality and nice and lightweight. Some came in "reasonably" priced if by "reasonable" you'd consider £350 but when comparing with the wider market equivalents they look pretty decent. Nicely constructed, single layer laminates. I liked the Street Guards and some of the other ones they had at the lower end of the budget and will certainly consider them. Will be trying a pair of Marrakesh on to compare fit though before deciding which to take. I'd rather have the improved air flow of the Klim ones and just chuck some over trousers into the top box if ever needed.

Sadly, you’re correct it’s marketing hype. And Motolegends has been known to twist the truth in its videos – particularly regarding safety and protection claims.

I recently bought some summer gloves from Motolegends and the stitching came away after 2 rides - so I submitted a 3 star review with comments.
It was never published by them. Would seem they only post the good ones.

They were Lee Parks summer gloves. Nice gloves, but the stitching on the palm pad is a bit suspect. Dye comes out on hands quite bad too. Held gloves are better choice in my opinion

I remember riding in the 80’s when the only protective gear was leather. Was still better riding than sitting in a boiling car………..that has all changed with a/c and we’ve turned into spoilt brats?! Lol
Even notice at bike racing - there’s a lot more cars in the camping area than bikes

Haven't been for a few years but i used to go to the superbikes at Oulton Park and its the same there.
A lot of people cant do simple camping, so need a huge car boot and back seat for all their crap lol

Been there done that.
I had an addiction for things camping and bought way too much camping gear including a kitchen larder, tables and foldup camp bed.
on top of the massive tent it slowly spoiled the enjoyment of camping.
Setting it all up and then packing it all away became a massive chore and i slowly stopped camping.

When i started camping off the back of the bike it was minimal and i found that i enjoyed camping again.
i've learned my lesson
Buy minimal, but buy good quality stuff you really need and its more fun and your packed up and away in 10 minutes

I've discovered another alternative to the more expensive Klim Marrakesh trousers which is the Knox Urban Pro armoured mesh trousers which are also AA rated and elastic enough to pull over touring boots or simply tuck inside them. At £230 they're considerably less expensive. Looks just the ticket. For cooler weather, add a base layer and waterproof pack away over trousers for the wet and it seems to tick all of the boxes. One question to you Marrakesh users....are they waterproof enough to keep the odd shower out as I can't imagine they're waterproof being a mesh type design deigned for air flow?

Knox gear is good but watch the sizing, I found I needed to go up at least two sizes more than I usually buy.

They do have a good returns policy though.

Been caught in a few showers and sustained rain (obviously in Scotland), and not got wet legs. Don’t think they’d hold up to the rainy M74/ M6 jaunt to ferry though. To clarify, that’s the Marrakesh I’m chatting.

Thanks TIJ. Thank you to QJumper too, I'l watch that but as I have a J&S store just 20 miles away I'm tempted to ride over and try a pair on (after checking they have them in stock....I find with J&S, they rarely have the stock advertised and tend to keep clearance lines at my local-ish one).

Maybe, but I doubt it, having had a chat with the store manager. He reckons those Knox ones are the bees knees but that fit can be a bit odd, so has ordered in three different sizes for me to try. What may be the decider is leg length. Standard is 33 inch which for a person of my perfectly formed compact stature is a little long! I can get away with a 32 and usually buy 30 to 32 leg length but he thinks 32 is only available in the more immature waist sizes....That being the case, it's sportsbikeshop next for the Marrakesh which I'm assured will fit. Only part of me is tosser sized and unfortunately that's the middle bit.

I found the Marrakesh trousers quite long ie a 35 inch inside leg for a 36 inch waist size. Which suited me as I find the correct 31 inch ride to high up my boots. They're almost as long as the tall versions of the Klim Carlsbad.

When I was looking they didn't show there's three leg lengths for the Marrakesh, how useful.

Many don’t do the short - so worth checking. I bought regular (32) and actually have a 34 inside leg. Fit me perfectly - so be aware
