320mm brake upgrade for R80G/S

I'm seriously thinking about upgrading my G/S front end with the Motorworks 320mm brake upgrade kit ( well I will pending feedback and when their sale starts !)
Anybody actually fitted this very 'mod'...two front disc set-up looks the bizz but parts/cost etc outweigh it for me.

Also intend to order/retro-fit the OE (slipstream deflector) windshield from the later GS paralever at the same time ( unless someone has a spare ).

Hopefully round rocker covers and a few other goodies to see the New Year in correctly

P.S. May also need a s/h front g/s mudguard as well....

I have a spare front guard

I also have BRAND NEW IN CELLOPHANE a Blue one for your bike
It was bought as new old stock from the states [$80.00 IIRC]

It is as it left the factory and does not need painting

I wonder, has anyone else got a BLUE 80g/s on the site ?????
If so it might be for sale

What expence ??? if yer forks are standard they have the lugs on both fork legs ( or at least mine did ) Get another disc ( I have 2 worn ones yer can have for a 10 plus post - or come and fetch um ) get a caliper ( only maybe hard bit as I dont know what other model caliper fits) 5 longer capheads 1 set of made up lines and splitter( I dint uprade the brake piston and mine could still lock front end up if I wanted )

$80 feckin dollars is a lot for some plastic Proff Might be worth me buying a new paralever front guard for £45 and painting that or acquiring a s/h paralever one...should be easy to bolt up to the underside of the lower clamp.


Mick...are you saying all I have to do is get the longer disc bolts ( £9.00 on Eblag )..a second G/S disc ( they are shallower than the rt/rs )...are you sure they will fit in between the legs? I have an nearside caliper in my stores dept. I think I would fit a 15mm rt master brake cylinder though

I'm working on him as we speak..bugger has a well protected garage..even for this scouser !!!

how about a harrison 6pot or a cast disc and goodridge hose?
i have a twin disc on mine,guess you were so blinded by my bike you didn't see it.

Cast iron how very 1980's Nah, cast iron would spoil my smooth image...had one once and hated the wretched rusting after 0.5 seconds after stopping !!!
Twin discs keep rearing its lovely head....but will my OE hub take the second disc AND fit in the standard forks ? ( Threw my warped discs out last year so can't do a mock set-up.........anyone care to advise

yes very 80's in keeping with the original bike you have.

yes will take your hub ,but will need to mess with spacers.

Just fit HH Brake pads. I'm 18.5 stones and my standard brakes fine with the HH pads.

Meant to say I have the part numbers of the different calipers on both bikes and will pull the discs off over the weekend, get some close up shots of the hubs and any part numbers of the discs and post them here

Mt old bikes had no spacers on the the disc bolt up to wheel hub

It did have spacers on the caliper fitting to the fork leg

I had one hose from the hand lever to a splitter near the mudgard then a hose down to each caliper

Thanks Mick..decision made...going to go for the 320mm conversion, as and when

Managed to source a tank so now need a left hand petrol tap ( anybody?) and still need an older s/h g/s mudguard for painting ( proffs offer of a new one is far to good to paint )

Re the Shropshire do and you bringing the mudguard down ( up ! )...I'm unlikely to have my beemer back on the road by then ( still in R & D )..so looks like I'll either give it a miss or travel down on the blue Kawasaki KLR650 for a day run ( may even camp the one day ) to collect it. Don't suppose you have a petrol tap as well
