Hardly saw anyone which for Scottish schools hols was the way to do it
Vast open spaces up there, oft missed by the biker hordes who transit up the M74 to get to the western highlands asap and conveniently miss D@G and the Borders, thankfully
No midges either

Sounds another great wee ride
I really love the whole area for its scenery, diversity of terrain and often remoteness
You literally cannot go wrong and done it many, many times with @Micky over the last 20-25 years
Luckily new vistas are opened up touring it with @ikkje and still finding new roads

Ive camped with a few million over friendly ones in the past.

A woman ran to her car screaming and crying, while her husband stuffed the tent unpacked in the boot and they drove off.
This was about 7pm
Right next to Loch Lomond, never camped there since lol
The morning after we realised me and my mate could have had a wooden lodge for an extra tenner.... ffs
Thats the route i took to the last tosser bash - the route meandering up the side of the mountain, dosent show just how steep it is , the blind bends, & in the rain on a laden GSFrom there it was down to St Mary’s Loch and over to Innerleithen for a coffee
Then we took backroad on the opposite side of the valley to the main A72 to Selkirk and superb it was

From Selkirk it was over Ettrick Bridge on another superb road and then over towards Hawick, which we circumvented on the south side on very minor roads to Bonchester Bridge which was an excellent choice from @ikkje
He does have a very good knowledge of the areas and the ability to pick some of the best goat tracks available-roads to be savoured
He pointed out this landmark, a former volcano (now plugged) from 330 million years ago…. Known as Ruberslaw

From there we had a late lunch at Rochester on the A68, south of Carter Bar
Then it was homeward bound via Bellingham and Fuel in Hexham, Blanchland and Stanhope, where we went our separate ways
Another cracking trip, in good company
With weather like this, it has to be enjoyed and snatch a night away to explore not too far away
Trips don’t have to be long and elaborate - we only decided last Thursday and booked the hotel for just Sunday night

This year, my first adventure alone in 18 months will be up to Castle Douglas then on to Ayr
Great roads, fewer police than Wales ---- but Lower Drink/ Drive limit, further to Carlisle than to Chester, and sadly the midgets.

we have police in Wales?
rarely seen, especially the traffic variety in Dyfed Powys police region.
Dyfed Powys Safety Tax Collectors have camera vans but primarily in the denser populated southern half of the region where pickings are richer.

We did comment on the lower Scottish DD limit (after our 2 pints before eating) whilst in the restaurant contemplating the size of the glass of Merlot or whether we should share a bottle ?
Can you get your bike beside the tent ?And for those who fancy camping, i can absolutely recommend Ruberslaw Wild Camping. It’s on the other side of the fell from JB’s photo, but is great for exploring the area and i camped in the Old Walled Garden on a previous trip. Perhaps best to avoid school holidays mind
