450 review

Quite happy to throw my KTM 525 in a ditch and trash it cos KTM bits cost bladders .

Would want to see a spare parts price list before I even considered one :augie

So very true, Ming

The BMW panels for an XChallenge are £350-£400 for front/rear mudguards and two rad panels............ouch:spitfire:mad:

A KTM full set of genuine panels & guards, including headlight guard will probably cost less than £100

That will all change.......
Acerbis, UFO, Polisport, etc, will all be doing plastics for them in the future.
This G450X is an assault on the KTM dominance in the enduro scene.
Your gauging road prices to racer prices, they're nowhere near the same.
For example, a set of plastic for a KTM 640ADV and a set of plastics for a (As mentioned) 525EXC.
The pattern plastic companies will be doing complete colour change schemes real soon.
Everytime there is a new model bike to hit the scene, the paddocks at the race meets don't all have the same coloured bikes in do they.......

And as for other spare parts, well apart from filter, plugs, and the odd brake/clutch lever:augie, etc, I'm struggling to remember the last main dealer part I had to buy for any of my trail bikes. It was probably a rad hose in 2000 for the then new DRZ400.

Timpo.

The bike is what you want it to be.....within reason!

Forget about practicality etc, if ya want one just feckin buy one. It ain't a matter of need, it's a matter of want! One of my favourite sayings to my girlfriend!...:D

I used to ride my WR400F most days to work in all weathers and on Mitchie comp 3's! No indicators and no mirrors, certainly hones ya observation skills up a little! wheelies everywhere, back end sliding out on most corners on knobblies....bliss!

The only drawback was it's tank range, only 8 litres which used to last about 70 miles or so if I remember correctly?

More fun on the road than 'the sauce'....and more reliable...:o

50 horses from that little 450 will be a feckin dream...:spank
