49lt top box lids are the interchangeable

Hi folks wonder if someone can help.

I have a 49lt top box lid.?this is the one that has the trim for the rear light on it. Although I only have the shell. Was on my 1250RT

The question is a mate is trying to update his old 49l top box. His is one which does not have the plastic trim for the light

He bought the trim and thought that he could just buy a second hand shell that had the recess for the trim and fit this on his box.

But I’m not sure if these lids fit old and newer 49l boxes

Anyone know

Why not go around to your mate’s (or them to you) and find out?

Stay about 200 miles apart or that would have been the thing to do.
