Big thumbs down for 06 FD's as this is my forth one:blast

Big thimbs up for BMW as I am not payng a penny despite being nealry two years out of warranty. They also paid for the previous 3.:thumb2

What the feck am I going wrong apart form riding it:confused:

I thought I was pushing my luck on 3 replacements !!!

Glad you got the fourth from BM outside warranty, I'd have no chance as I now do my own servicing. I'd better get some special tooling made up for the rebuild job sometime soon.

Who's your dealer Gabby, just in case mine goes; my local doesn’t usually fill me with that much confidence :(

The trick is, if you’re out of warranty (I am 18 months out!), is to kick up a fuss, lodge and appeal and when approved financially contribute...perhaps pay the labour...then you get 2 years warranty on the part. Thank God I did as this one has only lasted 7 months (14,000 miles).

What is absolutely final in my mind is that this is the last BMW I buy...ever. I have had enough of them fecking up. I have done 66,000 miles on a bike purported to be capable of at least twice that. And that alone was the reason I brought it. The last bike I had (as I am a big commuter) was a Honda and that took me to 165,000 miles and still nothing wrong when I sold it.

Not value for money, clunky heaps of crock designed for week end throttle jockeys with a design life of 25,000 miles as far as I am concerned. This, of course is not what I will say on the Advert when I put it up for sale in a week or two.

My other bike (a real bike) is a Honda Blackbird - smooth, comfortable, bullet proof and never brakes down. That has taken me and the wife all round Europe with no fuss at all. Took the newer and more expensive "heap" to Italy and and it broke down twice. I spit in the face of the crap.

Good riddens to BMW.

most likely this answer is a bit off topic, but,if you have had a new part fitted by a bmw dealer, that part, and fitting is guaranteed? for a year, I think,???

Jeezzz, the things you have to go through to get some justice, and frankly I don't blame you for walking away from BMW.

Only if you have paid for it (or part of it). Get a new something 2 months from the end of your warrnty and you only get two months.

Ok I have calmed down now....I love it again:)

Just fitted Remus headers to my Akro can and WaaaHoooo what a bike now....:thumb2

I don't think that's correct

If they fit a new part supplied and fitted in the dealers workshop then you should get a warranty solely on that part

fill me in

hi gabby
It is only my first but after 45000K (28500 miles) my FD is gone too. I've always had my bike serviced at the dealers'. I'm currently waiting for BMW's answer to see if they will cover the charges....
you could do me a huge favour though. if you would be so kind to let me have a copy the document that states that BMW payed for your FD, I can put some presure on my dealer in case it goes wrong.
I'll keep you guys informed on how BMW Belgium handles these problems.
cheers
Peter

Firstly i know nothing about final drives, and presumubly they are brand new replacements not reconditioned at the factory, for a bike to be on its 4th and others on there 3rd, thats either v bad luck or theres another factor, could another part of the drive components be miss alined, could the bearings not be doing there job?? just a thought, i have no clue wonder if any one else has?
