Happy New Year one and all.
Ref: specific lines or products: Any chance of clamps to go on engine bars (25mm ish diameter usually i think?) to mount the led lights onto?. Don't fancy drilling holes in crash bars to mount them and obviously less mounting position options on the RT.
Also can you get hold of the splitter type thing discussed on here that goes from the rear of the BMW aux socket to allow ignition controlled power to a relay or handlebar switch for the lights? Or even a fitting kit, relay etc for the electrcally challenged , and free fitting
The MoFo HIDs posted on here have the ballast within the light unit, however there is no mention of ballast on the other smaller lights. Does this mean there isn't any or does the user have to find somewhere to hide/mount a ballast pack? Come to think of it what is ballast anyway!???

Cheers.
1) Clamps.
Yes, we have several more different sets of clamps on order to test out.....we've had three or four different types sent as samples so far and none have been 'up to' what we want, whether from the looks aspect or the strength aspect, or sometimes just the price (look at the PIAA light clamps and you'll see what I mean)
We are getting asked about clamps all the time though now, so it is one of my top priorities to sort out when I get back to work officially on the 7th
2) the 'Splitter cable'
Yes we can supply those, but to be perfectly honest all we'd be doing is phoning up a BMW dealer or two and seeing if we could get a bit of a discount, then passing them on- the chances are you'd be able to get one at the same or less than we'd be able to supply you with one for, but we can do that as part of a package no problem.
I will take a splitter cable into the Durite Tech research bods when I get back to work though and see if they can come up with a suitable alternative, as again, they are something we are being asked for a lot.
3) As soon as I get back to work, I will be putting together several complete package kits, including switches, relays if required, an equivalent of the Centech fuse box, a splitter cable etc.
I'll post on here as soon as I have that sorted out
4) the MOFOS need a ballast as they are HID.(High Intensity Discharge)
The smaller lights are LED (Light Emitting Diode) and as such, do not need a ballast, or in fact a relay as the current draw is so low
As you say, the MOFO lights have integral ballasts, which means you don't have to run wiring and have a cigarette packet(ish) sized box mounted securely on the bike......all of that is contained in a sealed cast body, so it's a lot neater than an externally ballasted HID.
The downside of course is that the MOFOs are HEAVY!
You'd need a reinforced light bar for a pair of those, as they weigh in at 2.5kg EACH....We can supply these reinforced light bars though.
A ballast basically converts 12v DC power from the bike into the extremely high voltage that is required to 'strike' the arc in the HID bulb.(and we're talking about 40 THOUSAND volts here, or thereabouts)
Hope that helps.....As soon as I get back to work properly, I'll be getting stuck into this properly and I hope you'll be seeing some complete kits, plus some tailored kits coming out both here and on the website, with instructions (or we can fit them here in Essex....TunnerUK (Chris) is the man to go to for fitting in Kent or we can supply full kits to any Auto/bike electricians anywhere else in the country as well)
We do not stock or supply HID kits with external ballasts- We could do, but we prefer to work as part of a community here and Les W was first in on that, so we're leaving it well alone
