5 days in Wales in May from B

Newport is fine :augie, no more dangerous then any other city. Just avoid the town centre on a Friday and Staurday night ;).

Brecon is only 45 mins to 1 hour from Newport, using A roads.

If you really want to stay in the Newport area I would recommend you stay out of town centre. Look at the new ETAP ( www.etaphotel.com ) as it is right next to J26 off M4 and cheap for the one night.

Its out of the way of housing and off main road, so bike not on show, next to a fire station so always people around.

If you want some good lanes and a route up to Brecon let me know. I can send you some way points.

Let me know if you book as I may be able to meet you for a beer :beerjug: :thumb2

.. for the 1. day i had an idear to stay directly after the bridge, and Newport is the 1.one. ... so the idear whas, that my wife has the 1. day some choping place
I'm not knocking Newport, but if you want somewhere with nice shopping for the Mrs, you may as well stay in Cardiff - it is our capital city after all, and only approx 15 mins further than newport. Eg for around £60 for a double room the MERCURE HOTEL looks good and has parking. :thumb2

If you want a day shoping don't, DON'T go to Newport. Cardiff is much, much better.

Just for starters with an assumed arrival date of 25th May09 staying for 1 night only

Holiday Inn Cardiff city centre.
Quote £80 for 1 night twin room in late May.

Etap Quote £35-60

Quality Inn located on the outskirts of Cardiff at J32 M4/A470 perfect for early start to Mid-Wales next morning.
Quote £45 which includes breakfast. There's also a local bus that stops outside the hotel that takes you into the city centre every 20-25 min intervals, last bus return from city centre 22.50 hrs.

Have fun

+1 dont leave helmets, gloves, jackets or bags unattended on your bike or they will go DAMHIKT :blast

otherwise Wales is great, hope the weather is improving for you

If you have had enough of looking at the mountains and the sheep, if you are still around Brecon, go to Big Pit Blaenavon, its FREE and you get to go down a Coal Mine.

Wales 2010 from Belgium

My wife wants to be back 05-2010:D:D
My plan is to take the ferry to Hull cross GB to Llangollen
There we stay 2 days to see the area
Then going down to Aberystwyth 3 days around
Back to Dover 2 days
2600km Total:Motomartin

If your coming to Wales via Hull, strongly recommend you do some riding round the Cumbria area as it has some great roads and plenty of sighseeing.

Apologies I forgot to post the Cumbria map.

I've had a home PC meltdown so no longer have mapsource.

Need to get a new computer.
