5 Days!

Well things didn't quite pan out as planned.

Day 1 M6/M74 north towards Glasgow in sheeting rain, turning off for Kilmarnock and Gourock. The rain stopped as we reached Scotland and so the run to the ferry was fine and the views, as the coast comes into view, are breathtaking.

Just in time for the ferry to Dunoon and then up to the A82 for the first night at Tyndrum at the Invervey Hotel. I think we'll pass through Tyndrum next time.

Day 2 was supposed to be Oban, Fort Bill, Ullapool and then to Mart-P's but I was out-voted and we ended up doing the A82 to Fort Augustus and the B862 road round Loch Ness to Inverness. Our three bikes were almost taken out by a fool in a BT van racing along the B road. 10 minutes in Inverness and then the A82 back to Darroch View. After a great meal at the nearby pub, I entertained my room mate by 'snoring like a freight train', as he searched for his ear plugs! Hopefully I kept no one else awake at Darroch View but Karon said that Mart snores too, so I hoped everyone else would blame him!

Day 3 was down to Spean Bridge and along the A86 to the Dalwhinnie Distillery, down the A9 to Perth, out across the Forth Bridge and onto the A7 for a night in Hawick at the Oakwood House B&B, which was really nice and biker friendly too.

Day 4 meant continuing on the A7 to Carlisle, dropping onto the A6 through Penrith and out to Whitehaven, past Egremont, Sellafield and to Broughton in Furness, where we stayed in one room at The square cafe. After a lovely meal at 'The Black Cock', I again entertained my two room mates this time as they fought over the remaining pair of earplugs!

The final day meant a trip past Newby Bridge and through Kirby Lonsdale and along some single track roads before hitting the M6 and the subsequent traffic jams in Warrington.

I know that we missed some fantastic roads up in Scotland but, equally, we had a fantastic time and the roads we took were amazing too.

Going to take in Oban and Ullapool etc next year!

What a stunning place :clap
