Looking for a decent 50L(ish)compressor fridge to use on me camping trips.Ideally 12/240v.Will consider a non compressor as long as it's a decent jobby.Appreciate this will need collecting so within an hours drive from Basildon ideally. Thanks.

Halfords portable compressor fridge is way more flexible/adaptable than something like a Dometic CRX50, and less money too. It’s what I’d buy.
I can recommend the Waeco CF40 portable compressor chest type. 12/240 v and can be used as freezer or fridge. Imported mine from Germany about 10 years ago, pre Brexit, but is abvailable in the UK . Also rebranded as Dometic unit I think? Its been excellent, really useful bit of kit both domestically and in my day van.
As I said previously, if I can't find anything g similar to the Halfords one 2nd hand then I'll buy the 50L jobby.As you say,much more versatile.

Even with 30+ years experience in industrial cooling, there is still way too much for one person to know everything.
Having built my own camper van, in hindsight I wish I had just bought the Halfords portable compressor fridge (for several reasons) rather than a built-in fridge.

I'm off to Halfords in the morning to cast me eye over said contraption.I of the primary reasons for getting the compressor jobby is I'll be running it off a Jackery 3000V2.So hoping to get a few days on one charge and longer with the solar panel rigged up.I appreciate a lot of this is dependant on weather conditions,but I've gotta keep me beer cool.

Having bought a campervan without a built-in fridge, we bought an IGLOO brand powered cooler. I think it's the right approach for us too as it gives us a bit more flexibility.
We have the IGLOO ICF 32, and it has so far been excellent. Cooling from ambient to and maintaining 4C has been no issue, even sited in a campervan awning at approx 30C ambient.
I forget where we bought ours from, but paid c£300 delivered for it online from somewhere in the UK around this time last year. Capable of 12v and 240v. appears solidly made as far as I can tell.
Seems a bit power hungry on the 12V, but that may not be a cooler issue, more about the state of our leisure battery and we were using the diesel heater overnight too so the battery took a bit of a hammering.... we tend to have 240v hook-up most places we go so not really an issue. If we're going to use the 12V, we try and pre-chill everything at home first and keep the coolbox plugged into the van's 12V system while we travel - gives the leisure battery a fighting chance for a weekend.

If you have any kind of trade indenture evidence, such as a City & Guilds certificate, CSCS card etc, its worth approaching Halfords for a Trade Discount card. It takes a few minutes to arrange at their customer service desk and costs nothing but can save you a considerable sum on larger purchases. Even better when stuff is already at a sales promotion discount and you add the trade card to it.
Have a look at Magnum Motorhomes website, they do a few of the portable type units and very often have a deal on.

I have a trade cars but no discount to be had,,,,,,,,,BUT,,,,,,,the other half has a Blue light card so got 10% off,not to be sniffed at.Pick up in the morning.
Picked up the fridge this morning.Have to say,it's feels a sturdy bit of kit.
Out of the box it looks even better and hopefully will fit between the 2 front seats in me Sprinter.
