Thanks for asking, it's intresting on two points but before I come come to those. It's a habit of mine to zero the trip and average mpg when I fill up and on the last three tanks my GSA has returned the same 53.3 MPG and even part way through the 4th it's also showing 53.3 MPG

The intresting points

(1) it shows how dull my riding must be to return such a consistent performance - the bikes main use is c250-300 miles per week commuting

(2) prior to these last three tank fulls it was doing at least 2MPG less, so what's changed?

Well I acquired a new Shoei Hornet ADV helmet and found that where my last Shubeth J1 was best with the screen on the highest setting he Shoei is best a few notches up from the bottom and it looks like that's getting me a good 2 MPG better fuel consumption.

My brother in law gets. 57.3768 from his Honda Jazz , but only if he uses shell ,anything else and it is only 54 . 278 . Now that's interesting I hear you say

+1 for Shell V-Power Nitro Plus, my Hexhead goes better on this than on anything else.

Noticeably more go and sounds way better as well.

Plus 4 miles more per gallon.

46.6801 ave mpg over past 20,000 miles with 97/98 petrol (no commuting).....or should I have posted this under the OCD thread??

Anyway although a boring OCD subject, I'm pretty sure lowing the ADV screen from air brake to something less severe made the difference.

I also reckon that fitting those crash bar bags also fecks up the consumption, especially when you tonk along the motorways - mine are now off

My 08 1200 never... ever gets above 43.5mpg according to the trip computer, and that’s with motorways, commuting, North coast 500, Lands’ end never gets above 43.5. Standard bike just a few farkles.
I try and run it on good stuff as I filled up at Morrisons recently and it ran like a bag o shite until I next filled up.

why are people getting 10mpg more ?? :nenau

How do you zero the average mpg settings?

Scroll through the menu until you get to the correct feature then hold down the button for a few seconds until the digits clear

What about the peak on the Shoei !

That will affect the drag

When the ADV screen was on air brake high the turbulence caught the peak and tugged it around, low down it does not. Besides the peak on the new Shoei is designed in a wind tunnel, so said the man in the shop with the big windows

Seriously? I think the opposite would apply. The smoother the airflow the less drag. Jjh
