Fast riding down to the alps and my consumption dropped to 37.3 mpg on the onboard computer, I reset it when I got to the twisties and it stayed around 51.3, big difference depending upon how it's ridden.
46mpg average on the trip. It has dropped from 47mpg in the 15,000kms I've done on it since Feb.
2007 1200 GS Adv.
I don't think that BMW spent much time in the wind tunnel with a GS and rider.
Perhaps Touratech should be knocking out bits to streamline GSs? I'm sure that the bling addicts would be queuing up to weigh their bikes down.
Does this worry you??
Does this worry you??
Not one jot!!!!!
Everyone seems to be getting low to mid fifties, not worried, just curious.
However........I do cane the bejaysus out of it.
I never get more than 48mpg. Town riding can get into high 30s private road tours low to mid 40s normal motorway high 40s.
The power commander won't help but I'd rather lose a few % in mpg than lose an exhaust valve.
I also use posh petrol its sluggish on plain 95RON so that might be the answer.
Maybe it needs a good session on a GS-911 and some ordinary service work to see where the issue might be. Just a thought - The GS OEM map runs the engine weak sometimes dangerously so (in terms of exhaust valves). Hilltop riches the mixture. But going for best power would make it run even more rich. Just a thought - no ill will intended towards Hilltop.
its so so hard not to play thoughYesterday filled with 26.5 litres after 245 miles of very not slow motorway. I was carrying a top case but no side cases.
That's roughly 42.25 mpg, on a par with what I get on fast motorways,
I generally get around 10 mpl, sometimes 11 sometimes only about 9 or slightly lower,
I just means that my tank range can vary from needing fuel at 280 miles or on a good day 380 miles.
