Have 2 Zumo 550 both with same maps and software updates.
Problem is one gets a satelite lock almost as soon as its switched on the other can take several min before it finds them. Have tried an external aerial but just the same. Any suggestions at to what I can do to improve the slow one.
Thanks

Every SatNav that I've had has taken between 30 secs and 3 mins to get the first satellite acquisition. Usually depends on how long it has been shut down for. Having said that, every now and again my Zumo throws a fit, and won't acquire satellites even after 10 mins. Turn off and back on usually sorts it.

Is the internal battery totally dead on the one that takes longer to get a fix? Will it power up off the cradle? Not sure if they use the internal main battery when powered down or there's a CMOS battery in there as well. If there's no internal power the device may revert to the factory default thinking it's in Taiwan or some-such. This will result in a long delay whilst it orientates itself to a location in Cheshire.

Mine does the same, takes an age to write the route.

I've put it down to the amount of stuff I have stored on the memory, music, books etc. You could try clearing it down.

Thanks for all the replys. Had my 550 for a while and its always been a little slow, never gave it much thought. Got Sues and same spec, softwear, updates, maps, routes etc and switch them both on, bikes side by side, Sues gets a lock within seconds every time, every where from Manchester to Milan! mine, I can leave Calais and do about 40/50 mile before it gets a lock, do the switch on off thing, and not a lot of difference..
Once on and on the route both work the same.
I can live with it just thought I'd ask the collective if there was a cure, update. Ta:thumb

All cleaned out to get latest maps on, no pictures, music etc and only 2 voice files left. No problems with routes or drawing/calculating them just initial sat lock slow on one.
