Both the above speeds are taken on the tablet.
It's a HUAWEI MediaPad M5.
Anyone have any ideas? All gratefully received.

Has the WiFi speed previously been acceptable and which frequency (2.4GHz or 5GHz) is it connecting on? If it's 2.4GHZ I might well suspect a new neighbour with lots of older devices as that band can get very crowded. Also, are any other wileless devices crawling? It's worth installing a WiFi analysys app to see what's happening.

I would check it’s really 55mbps, first, only way to do that is with a computer plugged into the router with Ethernet. Also check your router handles those speeds

If you only have 1 router (and not additional access points, extenders and such) then it could be interference from another nearby network. If you have any cables in the system, check they are all gigabit, or even replace them anyway- cables fail.

If you have more than 1 network set up, like an additional guest network so your guests can’t log on to your devices, check you are logging on to the right network.

If all the above checks out, and you haven’t fiddled with stuff, it could be an ip conflict.

This may be resolvable by switching off all your devices Wi-Fi, rebooting the router, then switching Wi-Fi back on on your devices one by one.
