6000 miles in 12 weeks

Well it's 12 weeks since I bought the GS and the daily commute plus a trip to The Ring has clocked up enough miles to need a service next Friday.

So what reliability issues have I had? None
How much oil has it used? None that I can tell.
Average MPG over the 12 weeks? 47

The most interesting thing is that my daily commute has been quicker on the GS then it was on the R1's. Can't explain it but i've knocked 5 minutes off the average time which is now 49 minutes. :confused:
 
:clap nice to hear a positive ownership experience. bet you arrive feeling better after a more relaxing ride than on the R1. amazing result with the oil - mine used for first 1200 miles then stopped.what sort of roads are they to give the advantage to the GS ?
 
The GS's are deceptively quick, combination of smooth ride and chuckability i think. When on the Isle of Man, some roads were quite rough and bumpy, I quickly caught people on R1's and such, on real roads GS wins hands down :thumb2

6000 miles in 12 weeks is very impressive.
But how come you live so far away from your place of employment..?

You could save yourself a small fortune by living a lot closer..!:)

If the reason for not moving closer is because the wife/partner likes it were they are, well leave them there and go it alone, this will save you even more money...!:)

Actually, if you move close enough to your place of work, you'll find you won't even need any form of transport and that'll save you even more..!:)

Keep looking for more way's to save on your expenses and before long you'll find you don't even need the bloody job, so you may as well stay where you are :augie There are graduates that cant find jobs, so that'll help them too.
 
I have noticed it does not seem any slower on the GS than a sportsbike getting from A-B, plus I never enjoyed old bike unless weather was good / roads where dry etc.

I find GS soaks up big bumps better than last bike, but is very harsh with it, over smaller bumps it seems very "crashy" my (admittedly modified) ZZR would glide over manhole covers and road surface changes where the GS really jolts....

But try doing 60mph over a speed bump on any sportsbike and your gonna be going into orbit, I also slowed down for bumpy roads as I knew the bike was not designed to take bumps and worried things may crack / break if you hit a big bump too hard.

Done two days commuting on bike as car was out of action and found it dead easy to hop on / off and get around, probably half way home in time it takes to contort a 40 year old body onto an R1.

Good luck with those miles over winter, hope it ain't too cold this year.
 
My GSA used I.5 Litres of oil in 7400 Miles.
I have been advised by many mechanics over the years burning oil is more of a positive than not burning..
hope there right.
