Is it normal for the output shaft to have a bit of "clearance" or end float?
I know RTFM.lol
Havnt had time to peruse the cd rom.
Just need to get the thing dismantled and out of my way for a few weeks,so I can clear,
9 gearbox rebuilds
3 air head restorations
1 husky
3 engine builds
1 1200 rebuild
1150 resto
Plus whatever other shite I have knocking around

Well,that kept me out of trouble for a few hours,need to order a puller to fetch the flywheel off then I can start cleaning and inspecting it all.
I want to investigate why the output shaft has @1mm of end float as it seems a bit excessive.
Up to now all seems good,I suspect it's had an issue with a cam follower/ roller in the past as there were some metal fragments wedged in one of the header stud drillings.

Well, there was no harm in trying my luck

Today I split the cases,and started cleaning stuff up.
I must say, I'm well impressed with the build and design of the motor.
There was a bit of metal kicking around from the remnants of a cam roller breaking up in its past,but up to now the only"fault" I have come across is this,
5th gear,mainshaft.
Oh and a pitted cam roller

Bit irrelevant though really as I'm going to rebuild the crank,replace all crankcase bearings,new clutch new valves etc etc etc etc.
I recon the all the parts for the motor will come in @£1k
I paid £1k for the bike so essentially I'll have a new bike for under £3k

So the only thing remaining will be the complete overhaul and detox of the aged rider plus skills training so he has a chance of coming 2nd in forthcoming events
