Metzeler Sahara 3's are good off the road In the dry but they will be wasted on return. After them I would opt for TKC'S or Karoos are getting good good reviews. HTH

Mitas.
C17 front, E09 rear. Last for ages and perfect for the 640.

I'd ride down and back with at least 16/45 gearing, swopping to a 15 front while down there.

Yup, probably a better choice given that much tarmac and likely dry trails
