650 dakar rear light / numberplate setup

After another days trail riding I have lost my numberplate and rear light lens again, this is the second time it has happened now! The rear tyre seems to catch the number plate when landing a jump and it just rips it all off!
Is this normal??
Is there an aftermarket rear setup to overcome this problem?

one of the few things i bought before the bike, did a bit of reasearch into the weaknesses of the bike and bought bits to fix it, so far (touch wood) it's worked
