did i hear a little dakar rider in princetown tell me theres a 650 run from derbyshire on 11th october.

cant find anything on the site about it..... or is it a secret?

No secret Marion, its on the F650 website, but I've copied it below. Hope to see you there.
Kate.

Saturday 11th October
Nice mixture of A, B, C, D, E and for those that want Z roads!

First gear walking pace through to three figure speeds!
No mud but a couple of stretches of gravel tracks - perfect 650 conditions.
For those who want to "play" there are a number of 'there and back' trails off the route.

With the added bonus of stunning scenery (weather permitting), although the roads get a bit twisty to enjoy it

Meet at The Little Chef the south end of Disley on the A6 (near New Mills). Petrol station there also. How does 10 am sound?

Let me know if you can make it.

Sorry,
I forgot to post here (thinking you all used Trevors site).

Originally intended as a mix of trails (gravel tracks) and tarmac, but will probably be 100% tarmac. So Scarvers welcome aswell.

GS twins welcome (if they read this post!)

10.00am seems to be the decided start time, on Saturday 11th Oct. Meet at The Little Chef the south end of Disley on the A6 (near New Mills). Petrol station there also.

Keep yer fingers crossed for decent weather! See you there....

Our run

On the 11th Myself (650 Dakar), Jon (650 Dakar), Bob (650GS), John (1150 GS) and Steve (VFR) rode from Ypres to Armhem, we went over on the tunnel on Friday night and stayed in Ypres, went to Arnhem on Saturday and then back via Antwerp and the Belgian coast on Sunday. Some great sites, good meals, good company and a great ride.

In all about 750 miles over a weekend, dont let anyone tell you, you cant do distance on a 650. This comes after 3000 miles to Morocco and back earlier this year.

What a great bike.

Jim - sounds like a great run. How was the chunnel with the bike?

As for distance, both me & Reggie did over 500 miles this weekend on Spout's Peak District ride-out on Saturday and BMW's Lake District run on the Sunday - "full bore" all the way.

((Although quite a lot of distance was covered without contact with the seat [and both wheels off the ground, as well!!])):D

We also proved 650s go through deep water better than the 1150's (waiting for Reggie's pictures to prove that one!)

The tunnel was fine

Booking for five of us was a pain in the arse as you cant book as a group so had to do each of us individually! even by ringing direct and speaking to a person rather than a machine!

Also watch it that they dont try and sell you a variable rather than a fixed ticket, theres about £15 diff and you get the variable by default. Of course with the fixed ticket you cant change the times so we did have to wait 2 1/2 hrs in calais before we came back.

It turned out that the tunnel was cheaper than the ferry, the run across is pretty smooth so theres no need to tie the bikes down and it only takes 1/2 hr, we left UK at 6:30 Friday evening and were in Ypres by 9:30 (CET).

It was a joy to ride over there, it really shows you how easy travel can be when drivers pay attention as well.
