Gents,

The girlfriend is looking for a Sat Nav for her car, and having borrowed my 660 a couple of times is well impressed with it.

Is there a 'car' model that is similar to the 660, but not £450-00 quid!!

Christmas is coming, so if a cheaper alternative can be found then I'll be left with some spare beer tokens for the yule-tide festivities.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers,

GB

Have a look at the nüvi range. The 765T might be the obvious choice - about £150 on Amazon.

The 765w (I think) is the 'lowest' model they do which has the ability to accept routes planned on a PC, so that's what I bought my other half for the same reason. Never managed to get the live traffic update working tho'.

That's unusual - I have a nüvi 760 in the car and SWMBO has a nüvi 770. Both of ours give us traffic updates. It does only work in areas that are covered by Traffic Master though.

I also sometimes use my Navigator IV in the car and the TMC antenna works with that to provide a greater level of functionality than it does with the nüvi.

Nuvi 765 for me. Just been recalled due to possibility of a battery problem but well out of warranty and at least they are doing the decent thing.
I found the lane 'picture' helpful abroad same as on the Zumo but obviously of little use here, north of Perth.
