So I hear, as well as the 1190 Adventure - the two best bikes in the KTM line up. The 1190 apparently to be replaced with a 1090 and by making an R version of the 1290.

I like both these bikes - means I will hang onto my 690 (it'll become a classic soon:thumb) but I might get a new 1190 - I love that bike.

What I want to know is will it be a 1190R with a 1290 lump (good) or a R version of the 1290SA (not so good)?

Andres

I read somewhere ktm are going into the bigger class of bike.
The smaller stuff will go over to the husqvarna brand.. eg the 701 enduro

I've heard that too, but it's strange how a company with it's roots in brilliant dirt bikes is going to give up the name .... guess the reincarnated Husqvarna brand is their big hope for the future :nenau
:beerjug:

We will know what the Husky 701 is like when Andres pulls his finger out and gets one............:rob

Agree. I have the 1190 adv, which suits me fine as a road bike with the ability to do gravel tracks, I've a 690 for more strenuous off road. I tested a 1290 Adv and didn't like it, too big and GS like. And who thinks that split headlight is a good idea?

The 690 is a great bike on road but the suspension is shite for serious off road - ;)

Agreed. Which is why mine has been resprung and revalved to suit me, and is now brilliant off road ;)

Who did you use? Mine is with with Chris Hockey (Dr Shox) at the moment for the same thing.

Local chap near me, Mike Taylor, he does all my dirt bikes. Brilliant!

Exc forks on mine.. massive difference

How did you deal with the 25mm extra travel, out of interest? Lengthen the rear shock or push them through the forks? I thought about doing that, but to be honest, with a good revalve, right spring weights and right oil, I'm not sure they're much different to my EXC. I did check with Mike but he reckoned the internals wouldn't be much different once fettled. The bikes do a different job anyway, the 690 is fitted with bigger tanks and luggage and I only use it really for overland travel, not enduros so what I have is fine, with the shock having the same treatment.

The 1190r is being replaced with a 1290r

Slightly different headlights and fairing but similar styling and fuel range

Watch this space for an 800 adv, but no 800r

Is KTM good at provided parts for discontinued models? I have a long distance off road trip next year and would like to know if could get spares.

Very good in my experience, I could still get anything for my 640 ....... but of course not needed :D

KTM are NOT dropping the 690.
It will be produced with a redesigned head and better suspension and a plastics facelift of some sort.

I was talking to my local dealer yesterday about it.
