I've just had my bike serviced at 6K
Took it for a 250 mile spin over the weekend and was stunned - they've given me back a different bike !

The bike has always been lumpy around town in 1\2 - 20-30mph was always been tiresome. The bike had a surging which was very obvious around town in those 2 gears. So I would often try kicking up into 3rd, but that gear was very laboured low down and bike always felt like it would stall, and so I spent most of my town riding jumping around the gear box trying to find the sweet spot....after a while, I just accepted it as a quirk and assumed all GSs were the same.
I even tried different fuel grades - made no difference.

This weekend's ride took in a few towns and I was stunned as to how smooth the town riding was. I was often surprised to find I was in 3rd, as there was no labouring going on. I tested riding through town in 1\2 ....and blow me, the surging was gone! (well almost). In 1\2\3 the bike was totally transformed for town riding.

I also had the opportunity to briefly take out my mates 2014 LC, and it was very noticeable how much smoother his bike is than my Pre serviced bike was.

I don't know what BMW did during this service, but this is a totally different bike now! :D

Just thinking out loud, would there have been a software update?

So would you say that your bike is as smooth as your mates bike?

Hard to tell as I didn't ride it long enough. I do know that as it is, it is smoother than my bike ever was ...until now.

I'm guessing they applied an engine remap, as I can't see what else could have made such a dramatic change.

I'm going to contact them to see if I can find out.

I've done that............went in with a RT and come home on a GSA, trouble is it costs more than a blooming service:blast
