@ 70 mph

My 2001 1150GS with high 6th shows 81mph @ 4000rpm.

i have a km/hr speedo that doesn't work, so not much help for you

BUT

Look up the Anton Lagarider (nto sure o the spelling) he is apprantly a guru for the g/boxes and there are lots of details on his website include graphs that change when you make different selections

ok, i shall bear that in mind.
My cable and drive are fine, it must be the speedo.
I have been away and so will starting looking in to it over the next few days
will let you know, thanks

My 1150 Adv - both of them, are about 4000rpm for 70 as well.
The standard 1150 I had was tall geared and that gave 3500 for 70. I think there is a way of putting a tall 6th in....I liked the way the standard 1150 gearbox rode, it was a sensible spread of speeds. How it would fare for plains driving or mud plugging I have no idea.

Early gearboxes on the 1150 with the E gear had the taller 6th. All other gearboxes had the same final ratio and shifted the revs up 500rpm in 6th.

When I got my 1150adv I thought the e box was better, but now think the standard box is more useable. Not as good on long motorway slogs, but better on the twisty everyday roads.

E box first gear is the same as the standard adv box. The adv had a low first option but most bikes came with a standard box. I've off roadbed an e box and it was fine, but you do work the clutch a bit harder until you get the confidence to go a bit faster.

If you are only doing road work then the easy option is to fit a different bevel box to change the gearing but it will effect all the gears not just 6th.
