This picture shows a mod done on the dreaded road between Maolie and Marsebit ( COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS MA SE BITCH ) by some adventure bikers in Kenya.
You cannot travel this stretch of road without your rear shock packing in , even Ewan and thingie had a problem . There is only one known survivor of this road and that is HOWARD SCOTT of TR TEC adventure , he was clever enough to fit an OHLINS shock before attempting this stretch of road ...........and it lasted.

Mmm lets try this:

We have returned from a trip through Africa. When in Nairobi, saw the box of shocks from BMW's lying there. It is common knowledge that BMW shocks are kak. (Also common knowledge that KTM back brakes are kak, by the way)(Mine failed continously from overheating on the Ethiopian highlands as did the other two KTM's)

To cut a long story short, Rudi's shock gave up the ghost. Here is how he fixed it. Lasted 2000 km, through Sudan and Egypt! Well done Rudi, you beaut.

Bikes took a hammering on the Marsibit road. We had to smack these 'smileys' out in Ethiopia.
