800gs ignition or sidelamp live wire colours

HI Lads,can you tell me please ,where on an 800 gs, i could find either a 12 volt+ ignition live supply, or sidelamp + supply please.
One of the lads wants to fit a alternator/battery monitor and wasnt sure what the wire colours are.
I did suggest on the back of the sidelamp bulb, any ideas on the colours please?
either way it needs to switch off when the bike is turned off.

Just had a look at my Haynes manual and it appears to be light grey with black spots (don`t quote me!) the main beam is white and dip is yellow.
If you remove the right hand bulb cover (turn anti-clockwise) you can access the sidelight bulb holder and check this.

Why not use the accessory plug by the battery.
I connected my sat nav and autocom to mine it works with the ignition.

What he says! There's a plug under the tank, near the battery. Just get a plug from BMW, and follow the GPS thread from here (use search).
