Should I be worried buying an 800GS with 14k miles on it?
It has a full BMW history and looks mint but is £6k.
Sound a lot? Anything to look for/ worry about?

Defiantly to much really imo (in my opinion),..has it got computer & ABS/heated grips + 12K/full service history?

Does it come with lots of extras, center-stand/panniers/crash bars..exectra.

Ask the owner what recall items they have had done too it, you can with the reg phone/visit a bmw-motorrad dealer & find out what has been recalled for it (you may need verbal permission to find this out/you might not actually). Depending on the age as V8legend has stated, it probably has if 09 had a fair few items re-changed or corrected to a higher standard. If its been ridden in the snow/salt. Check the radiator condition, you might want to check for head-stock bearings (raise bike off ground & yank the forks forward & backwards). Check chain & sprockets for bad wear (hooked teeth, usually obvious on the front sprocket).

I bought my GS five weeks ago. 11 months old, 3k miles, ABS, computer, heated grips, engine bars, hand guards, fender extender, carrier, £6850 from a dealer (non BMW, but it still has warranty on it)

Hi again, its actually from a BMW mottorrad shop (dorchester). In fairness it is immaculate, has OBC, heated grips, engine bars, panniers, scottoiler, centre stand. Pretty much fully loaded and has just had the 12k service (full BMW history). My main concerns are the residuals. I normally change my bike every 12-18 months and do about 7k a year. Bit concerned that an 800gs with 20+k on the clock will be worth bugger all in a year or so.
Also, if I decide to keep it, are these parallell twins good for mileages like the boxers? (bit of an unknown quantity I realise).
Thanks again

Gingerbeemer I and a few others are heading down to Loomies for sunday morning (9-10am). Not necessarily a ride-out but meet & chat-sheeit. It's from another forum (TRC), you are welcome to link up. My F8 is purple, you can see what a knackered one is like with 44K under its belt.

ps: GU32 1JX

pps: Scrub that we are meeting @Winchester snack van (on Hockley Link (A3090) just before the M3 junction). God knows..hehe

14k is a little more than I would want on an 09 bike but you need to look at what these are new to buy new. 6K still a big saving on that, but if you intend to get rid in 12 months you could lose quite a bit.
As for how long they last? There is plenty of high milegers out there to prove that. More reliable than a 12 in my view and it will do everything they do.:thumb2

what?

they are adventure bikes, not sports bikes! 14k and it's just about run in. i would've thought that this forum of all forums would represent those who get beyond the end of their driveways...on sunny days. :rob
