Looking for an old clanker to blatt around on shorter uk trips but don't know which to go for,the 850 is the first of the breed but can also get 1150 for same cash ,so old icon or modern also run?

The 1100 was the first of the breed. 
The 850GS is a rare bike.. not impossible to find. but not exactly common. rare to see one for sale on ebay (for instance)
850 owners tend to love them. much smoother than the other two forms. but slightly thirstier I believe. That didn't put me off looking for one when i came to buy GS no2. but there were none available at the time.
1150s are common as muck. Loads available for sale. just a matter of finding a 'good un'
