Purely hypothetically, can it be done?

Strokes the same, so my guess would be the bottom end is the same, so barrels, pistons and possibly heads.

Would it need an 1100 ecu, injector bodies? or could it just be set up on a dyno?

I know the final drive gearing is diferent, but top end doesn't really bother me for what I use it for. Its not like I take it across europe.

barrels pistons and heads needed, think everything else is the same, but easier to get a s/h engine - or not bother as there isnt much difference in real terms, just hastle in doing the work!

maybe a touch of nitro...............

For two up with beer swilling pie munchers and luggage on board you may enjoy a bit of exra torque, otherwise smuggly enjoy a smoother running lower stressed engine.

why never had any problem with my 850 keeping up with 1100

I did say 'hypothetical', but have now been offered the necessary parts so in a real quandry now...

However, i have to agree with this quote. Had a ride on Monday and a mate on a zzr1400 admitted he'd struggled to keep up with me!!

Would make for a very lively machine keeping the final drive gearing the same though :D

Having owned this one for just over a year, out of the 3 R's I've had it's actually the most reliable, is nicely basic, and who knows what i could end up with if I sold and then went looking for an 11 or 1150.

So I am very tempted.....

Don't do it - the 850 is a gem of a bike and you would spoil it... they are so smooth and almost the same on the road. You would also loose loads in value when you came to sell it also if it was converted.... don't do it;)
