850 to 1100 gs conversion

Hi,I was wondering if anyone has done this as I currently have an 1100 I am breaking and a mate has asked me what bits he would need to get off me in order to do this.Is it just a question of swapping the top ends and motronic or is much more complicated?Thanks
 
Is your mate's 850 of the 850/1100 or 850/1150 type?
Rear bevel is different for sure, the clutch is different between the 5 and 6 speed gearbox. Probably other things too
 
Motronic system is different, which can be obtained from an 850 rt (850r motronic is different to the 850gs/850rt).
Rear bevel is different, and of course, the barrels and pistons.
My 850 only had 5 gears, not 6 mentioned above.
 
Did they do an 850 in the shape of an 1150?

I thought they were only in the 1100 shape/spec.

Head, barrels,bevel box,motronic are about all I can think of, maybe throttle bodies as well?

I think you will find that the 850 gs was the same as the 1100, but the 850 was also in RT and R version, a mate at work has an R which is a 2005 model I think and that has 1150 style gearbox/subframe mounts, hydraulic clutch and 6 speed box
 
Thanks folks,we are only considering doing this because his engine is down on compression and smoking a bit.Its the very first 850 5 speed so hopefully no problems there,cheers though I had not considered the FD ratio:beerjug:
 
Rings and bores have had it on his and I am cheaper than motorworks!,Its not about tuning/need for speed but sorting him out on the cheap as I owe him more than 1 favour,Cheers
