Hello all

I have been looking at this site for a while and am now in a position to buy my first GS. Looking at a used bike and have noticed a few 850's for sale that are a few hundred pounds cheaper than 1150's of the same year.

Are there any major differences in the two? Would the 850 do the same sort of mileage as the 1150?

Thanks for your thoughts

Andrew

850s are the same as 1100s, five speed, big ugly headlamp, bombproof and around 70 horsepower, very highly rated bikes, ultimately a little less grunt than the 1100s but better economy and smoother, 1150s are the upgrade of the 1100, six speeds, two odd sized headlights, also very highly regarded by those in the know.

In the real world 850s don't have any less grunt than the 1100s (although I can't speak for the 1150). That's because although they're a bit down on power they're also lower geared.

Mine is going strong - very strong - at 61,000 miles. I don't see any reason why an 850 shouldn't do the same mileage as an 1100 or 1150.
