Great reading, reminds me of the many European trips I've made over the years. So much so that I think I have some of the same photo's.

Great stuff.

I really enjoy reading other peoples' ride reports.

If I've been there then they serve as a reminder of my own excursions and if I haven't, they give me ideas and inspiration.

I tried to give as many of the things I learned as possible as you more experienced motorcycle travellers seem to have had your kit-to-take sorted for so long that you don't normally think to give such info out any more. Which is a shame as I'm sure we relatively new to bike touring types could learn a lot from those experienced tourers who rely on more than a credit card and AA membership as luggage :D Personally I like to be as self-sufficient as practicably possible.

Being new to motorcycles, I'm seeing how my backpacking kit works on a bike. To be honest, the amount you take to go long distance hiking is actually a similar weight and bulk although some items are different of course.

I used to do 10 day solo trips in the Canadian Rockies when I lived there in the 90's. You had to get your kit right as there was little likelihood you'd see another person the whole time and there was no quick exit to your car.

Europe solo is no big deal for sure as you have mobile coverage, recovery services and civilisation never very far from wherever you might be but it's still a drag to have too much of what you don't need and not enough of what you do need.

Next year I'll do something similar but on my F800GS but heading further afield. Can't wait !

Thanks to all for the positive comments :bounce1
