90s bits

You'll be fine with anything between 5w to 10w.

I got my last batch of fork oil from Halfords. I thought they stocked 5w, but I might be wrong. I was using 10w semi-synth, with progressive rate springs, in my '88 80RT (bike now sold). I use the same 10W in my '89 100GS.

I love the R90S in Daytona Orange. I know of a superb one that could be for sale . . . but I've got enough toys to be getting on with :tears.

Good luck with the fork repairs. I look forward to seeing the pics of it on the road :thumb

Thanks for the gen on the fork oil Gents, i have been muckin about all day doing this and that, went to pull the forks out about 530pm:confused:
How on earth does that top yoke cap come off? the type with two small holes init! tried two small bolts screwed into them and a screw drive between
but they ( bolts ) just pop out. Thinking of welding a nut onto a thick ( bit like me ) washer and two pins throu it, so i can put some downward pressure onto it and screw off with a socket...will that work gents?

:blast Did you get the toolkit with your bike? There's a tool in there which doubles as a pin spanner - have a look for a tool with, yes, two pins which fit the top yoke cap!

Which has got me thinking. Have you picked up a clymer manual yet? If not, I'd thoroughly recommend doing so.

Wanderer,, yes and yes, i have the tool kit but never thought to look in it:augie:rob and yes i have a manual, just says remove cap:D will take a look tomorrow.:thumb

Thought the tool kit was like the 1200 one :augie only jokin folks...

OK, the dipstick (me) removed forks emptied old oil, stripped knackered leg
refitted to new/secondhand lower, rebuilt the lot. All still loose until its on
the ground me thinks then i can bolt it up:augie i poked the wheel spindle through thole offered up the spacer.....it's too big...W.T.Hell.. needs to be 2mm smaller with this new lower, if i use the spacer that came out the wheel is no longer centred between the legs, the disc touches the caliper mount one side:eek: i made a spacer out of plastic tube just to try it and 2mm smaller works. Have i gone off my heead or what:augie
will make new spacer tomorrow and try again..BTW i also need a Volt meter:augie checked all wires and connectors seems tobe the meter..only reads 11volts ( all the time )
PS: i did change the other fork seal as well..
PPS: it's the BMW volt meter if any one has a spare they nolonger need:D
