1995 1100 GS

found this ...

Resetting ABS1

Locate the diagnostic connector on the right frame rail, under the seat. Remove it from the blanking plug.
Insert one end of 20 cm wire into the middle socket of this connector.
Ground the other end firmly to a metal bolt in the area (and keep grounded).
Hold the ABS button down as you turn the ignition on. You should see the lights flash together as normal.
Keep holding the ABS button down for about 8 seconds. The ABS light will stay on solid.
Release the ABS button.
Turn off ignition, remove wire.

Resetting ABS2 on early bike

Locate the diagnostic connector under the seat. Remove it from the blanking plug.
Insert one end of 20 cm wire into the middle socket of this connector.
Ground the other end firmly to a metal bolt in the area (and keep grounded).
Turn on ignition. You should see the lights flash alternately.
Hold ABS button down for about 8 seconds. The bottom ABS light will stay on, and the top one off.
Release the ABS button. If you have successfully reset the ABS, both ABS lights will come on. If you have failed to count to 8, or your ground is not good, the top ABS light will stay off.
Turn off ignition, remove wire.

What ABS problems are you experiencing ? The usual one is alternating lights flashing, its normally related to the bad way in which the ABS system checks battery voltage before the motor has started, and usually indicates that your battery is less than perfect. I fitted a new gel battery a year ago and it temporarily cured the problem, this year it returned, a few hours on a normal automotive battery charger has cured it once again, restarting the engine after a few miles is also a popular cure.
I hope this helps, and Welcome to the forum :thumb2

I have far fewer faults with the abs if I make sure that absolutely everything is 'off' - lights. and most importantly - heated grips.

ignition on.. wait for the sound of silence - then start the engine. On those odd occasions - particularly cold mornings when it fails then the short ride to the main road is enough to 'bump' the battery enough to set the abs.

It hasn't got an 1150 loom on it has it,because, being an expert in nothing in particular,I seem to remember asking what the feck that multi pin connector was when my mate got an 1150 when they first came out.

The bit of wire trick work. I leave mine wired to the neg terminal with a bit electrical tape covering the other end. works great on one of the bikes. the other one just works.

Looks like a 1150 footrest :nenau

you're right and well spotted.. thats definitely not an 1100 footrest. curiouser and curiouser... this is a bike with an interesting story to tell....

heres mine.. same angle. very different.
