94 r1100gs newbie

Not that unusual, i've had a cat B sold as spares only that was to good to break up so i just plonked another frame onto it, and a french import that i was getting a load of grief over at the DVLA so i did the same again.

loz also had an 1150 ADV that was an old 1100 on the log book.

Nothing illegal about it, so long as you've all the necessary paperwork, and if you do sell it make don't try and decieve anyone.

Thats all fine and dandy, as long as the rear section is not from a stolen bike, what is or was dodgy is that the owner did'nt know he had a 1150

got to say, after reading this and others like it, i would demand my money back, explain to the seller exactly what you have found , also try contact the previous owner too and ask questions.
unless YOUR happy with what you have that is.

another reason i fkin hate ebay!!!

jus a thought , do u realise you probably wont be insured? its an 1100 on the book but with an 1150 cc engine fitted,

+1

to be correctly insured you will need to declare every aspect of whats different, you may find you have to go through specialist insurers. it may even require inspecting.

Just change the engine size on the logbook, tell your insurance company, job done. :nenau

depends on who you are insured with, some may class it as a mod as its got an 1100 frame, and book

thats if it is a 1100?, it may just be a 1100 front end from a cat d (with v5)on a 1150 stolen bike????

crimbo kev, post a few more pics please

no nothing like that, im airing on the caution,

it could be two completely different bikes, it could be that the v5 is for a legit cat d r1100gs, whereby a hooky 1150 has been mated to some part of the 1100 to become the bike he bought.
more pics would/ could suggest more of a 1150 than first thought.
or maybe not.
either way i hope crimbo kev gets a fair deal:)

This is better than CSI......I'm going to flick through the freeview channels for repeats until someone posts the next episode :D

Is there an engine build number somewhere, there was a bit in the pipe,n slippers mag about such a thing on airheads, it might lead back to a VIN on the eras end of the bike, otherwise we are sweating over a legitimately written off then privately repaired bike that our mate has bought in good faith, if that is the case then he has got a lot of bike for what he paid. I have repaired a few write offs myself, its not a big deal. Provided its not a ringer.

saw this on ebay, the bloke would not answer my questions on the fact that only the forks looked 1100, he said only the front subframe had been changed with 1150 as he had a light fall off road and it hit a tree

Walked away after that
