Thanks a lot very informative........I too am no stranger to a Baco Roll if I lost weight I think it would improve both MPH and MPG:)

I have filled a 1200 with both low and higher octane fuel...........and with diesel......... I can state unequivocally that it ran best on just two of the three....

:D Just had a coffee on the keyboard moment :D

I've run an 06 (but bought new is May 07) for 15k KM, as the countryside in malsysia dosent always have 97 O often fill it with 93, I don't notice any diference. OK I don't scatch with it, but cruise at 85 on the motorways and have fun. So I cant see you haveing any problems with 95. A friend regularly goes to Cambodia and there he gets 85 and also says he has no problems with his GS. So in Europe I'd say put the cheapest you can find.

The 2008 1200GS

As you will all know the compression ratio on this face-lifted model has gone up from 11:1 to 12:1 and thus one would think that a higher octane fuel would be beneficial; In fact I was told by the salesman to use 98 octane normally although the motor would adjust automatically if I used 95 -with a slight loss of power; that all sounded reasonable.
However my handbook (in french) states "carburant recommandée - 95 ROZ/RON Super sans plmob*; It then states 91 ROZ/RON Essence ordinaire sans plomb.....will give reduced performane and lower consumption;
So i am a little confused but TOTAL say "Qu'est-ce que le Super sans plomb?*
C'est une essence exempte de plomb qui possède un indice d'octane de 95.
Which leads me to believethat there is NO point in using 98 - except that the price difference here is tiny but enough to ensure lower queues at the 98 pump!
