... by teaming up with me when I buy my 2610 Streepilot from the USA.

I've been humming and hahing about getting the Atlantic or U.S Basemap 2610 streetpilot for a month now. If I go for the Atlantic Basemap 2610, I can get one for around £ 1000, including the European City Navigator C.D and a 256 Mb memory card.

For the U.S Basemap, it works out at +/-£1050.00, but includes a 2610, a 1 Gb & 128Mb memory card, the U.S City Navigator C.D and also European City Navigator software. My theory is that a 1Gb memory card will hold more or less all the European City Navigator maps needed in the short term and that 2Gb cards will soon be much cheaper than the current $640 as 4Gb memory cards have just come out ( they are currently $ 1500 and I don't know if the 2610 accepts them ).

After reading this thread http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11727 and finding out that 2 Streetpilots can be registered on 1 City Navigator CD, if I can find someone who wants a 2610, $300 could be saved by sharing the cost of the City Navigator CD. This puts a U.S Basemap 2610 firmly in the lead for value.

If anyone is interested in getting a 2610, by partnering up with me, it means that a 2610 Streetpilot, a 1Gb memory card, a 128Mb memory card, the U.S and European City Navigator software could be ours for around £ 800.00 each. Mid-October and early January visits to the U.S.A are being made, so please PM me if you are interested in this.

Garmin has just announced a Motorcycle Mounting Kit for the 2610. It
includes a mounting bracket, a bare wire power/audio cable with a 2.5mm
audio jack, mounting screws and nuts and mounting instructions. It is
suppose to be available in December.

info from Darrel at www.tvnav.com

gpscity.com are advertising the RAM cradle for the 2610 as available on 6 November

Geoff : I might be interested but need to research it a bit. When do you need to know by ? Are you coming with Phil to collect the bike at the weekend, we could have a chat about it then?

Cheers

Pedro

It's ordered and being picked up around the end of October, so no worries Dutchie I'll let you know how it goes.

I plan to velcro a PDA stylus to the side of the 2610. I'll attach it with one of those short, curly, springy keyrings -it should work out great. I find the "old" :D Streetpilot's rocker pad cumbersone when I use mine with gloves on, so I reckon that the new touchscreen will be easier in use.
