Mark and Denise were also there.

All seemed to be going well for the first couple of sections....well apart from missing cleaning the section but missing the start gate on one :blast

Then I made a stupid error exiting the stream and looped my Montesa, it came down hard...feck, something's wrong with it:eek:

Yep, it's fecked.
Well it was quite a spectacular off by all accounts:tears

So, in a normal world, that would be that...............

Eventually I get the bike back to my van and set off despondently to watch the others:tears

Here's Denise:clap

Blurry again but Mark's concentrating.

The Clerk of the Course spots me and asks if I want to borrow one of the marshall's bikes. He insists and I'm given a Beamish twin shock Suzuki.:)

Whoop whoop, off again but have to go flat out to make up lost time and try and complete the course which was four laps of 10 sections :bounce1

I soon overcame the alien bike and found myself cleaning many sections:eek:

Starting to get the hang of this Suzuki, I think it was 350cc or thereabouts, the owner was telling Ange that it had no brakes....he never mentioned that to me:eek

Harder than it looks.

I had to rush like mad, often doing the same section 3 times in a row to catch up time but really chuffed to have finished all 40 sections without wrecking someone else's bike as well as my own.
Knackered at the end of that and time for a couple of beers:beerjug:

It was mainly a Classic pre '65 and twin shock event with some fantastic bikes there. Next time I'll get some photos of the old bikes as well:thumb

The event was held in the hills near Llangollen by the Aqueduct Classics Club

Final couple of photos.

Denise.

I think Denise completed two laps and Mark, always eager to give her arse a rub, spent a lot of time helping her through some of the difficult bits, as a result I think Mark may not quite have had time to complete it all:confused:

A brilliant days sport which, for me could have been ruined in the first 20 mins if it weren't for the generosity of others:beerjug:

Looks like a crackin day there Tim, get yourself to the classic dirt bike show next weekend, you should be able to pick up a new wheel there:thumb2

Just had a message from today's Clerk of the Course, he has a Montesa front wheel:)

Looking good

I wouldn't have minded riding that course, looked good

I had a good (and dry) Trial, today @ Barnsley - all modern and some tricky sections..........my results are improving, I reckon I dropped 45-48 on the intermediate route

That looks absolutely fantastic, gotta love riding in streams, great fun!

:D

Nice of the guy to lend you his bike, that's one of the great things about trials, always someone willing to help you. Friend of mine had a similar problem with his bike recently and was offered so many bikes to share or ride it wasn't true...

:thumb2

Hope you get yours fixed soon and well done to all with your scores.

:clap

Hook Woods next weekend for me.....

:)

Jon

That looks like a lot of fun. How cheaply would it be possible to get into trials for. I'm guessing the bikes aren't road legal so you'd need a trailer for the bike. Are the bikes fairly pricey or can classic equipment be found at a reasonable price.

I've never done anything like that but looks like a grand day out in the country.

The idea of this form of motorcycling is almost the complete opposite to the average GS'ing, where bling is king, spent as much as you can but rarely ride with a smile on your face.

Bikes can be had for a few hundred pounds upwards, about £1k should get you something good enough to compete with although you'd need to be pretty good to win on it. But winning is not what it's about, just a challenge to yourself.

Some are road registered which can be handy when events use roads between sections but not really neccesary and it's highly unlikey anyone would ride to an event on a trials bike.

Entry fee is around £15.

It's great fun and not as easy as it looks:D
This photo was taken yesterday, it's Paul 'Moz' Owen, a highly respected road racer who's lapped the IoM TT course at 122.9 mph :bow...even he was having a few 'issues':D:D

Cheap is good in my book :D

I'd not be looking to do more than compete and learn some new skills, just have a fun day out riding a bike with likeminded people. Probably won't be this year but next year that might be on the cards. I'll have to look into it more closely.

thanks,

Is the word 'Classic' the thing that makes this different to the Trials you see where a kid launches a bike 8 feet to the top of a wall from a standing start?
