A couple of things

Hi, all
a couple of things I've noticed on my 1200GS

1: Occasionally the parking lights stay on :( . My dealer tells me I must have hit the left indicator switch while turning off the bike. This apparently turns on the parking lights (and flattens the battery if you don't notice). I am pretty sure I have touched nothing.

2: My engine appears to be connected to the throttle through a rubber band between 4500-5500 is there a hole in the torque or is it because I am over 20 stones  :bounce1

Has anyone else noticed this. Apart from that I am very pleased with my bike. ;) ;) ;)

There is a weak spot at about 5000 rpm, there is on every bike, because they have to meet noise limits measured at 5000 rpm. Some people say an aftermarket exhaust improves this, I just work round it :)

It's very easy to accidentally hit the indicator switch, especially if you're putting the steering lock on. I haven't noticed mine ever turning on the parking lights by itself ... that doesn't really help you :)

4500-5500 RPM

Mine is an early 05 model and I haven't noticed a flat spot between 4500-5500 RPM, even riding two up, so not sure why you do, even at 20 stone !

When I first got my 1200 the handlebars were in a position where the left indicator would catch on the tank on full lock and put the parking light on. Soon sorted when spotted.

No weak spot in my April 05 bike - maybe it only happens with the earlier bikes, could it be connected with that weird power valve thingy that was removed on the newer bikes?

Mine has a flat spot at 5000rpm. Normally it's hardly noticable but if I'm doing just under 5000 and gun it for, say, an overtake it appears as a "hole". As quickly as I notice it it's gone and I'm away again, thinking "Did that just happen?".
If the flat spot is much worse than that it seems like there's a problem. Get the dealer to download the new fuelling software though, it may cure it.

(BTW I'm over 16st but I'm usually two-up.

There is a slight flat spot, but made up for by the top end surge :)
