Some guys from The West Midlands TRF organised a Welsh weekend based at Llangollen.
I joined in on the Sunday ride.
Met up at The Grange Hotel on The Horseshoe Pass & introduced myself to The Brummies. We set off & straight away did The Conquering Hero, Llantysilio.
It all started off OK but then we climbed & hit the cold(er) air.
It was here that one of the group dropped his bike in a water crossing & filled his boots with water. He was the tailender, hence I missed it & got no photo.
The guy with wet feet called it a day & returned to the hotel.
We carried on & I logged some new trails on my GPS
OS maps showed the legal routes..

The sight of snow on the moutains was a taster of things to come..
The trail soon vanished underneath the snow & the going got tough.
The idea of riding in the snow was a romantic notion with picturesque photo opportunities but the reality is bloody hard work.
We headed for The Berwyn Mountains & from here I got a bit of water on the lens.
We signed the book at the top & I took a group photo for the Brummies.
Chris (DRZ400E), the ride leader & the guy who organised the weekend for the group.
Some fantastic views to be seen, just a shame The lens got spotted. Hope to get some better photos from the other guys.
On the West side of The Berwyns the drifts were deep. The snow was deeper than the sump guards so the bikes were just lifting the rear wheels & spinning.
We had to get physical!
Time to take a breather & get the heart-rate back down to a normal level.
I was already aware of some of today's trails but we did a few new ones to me.
We pressed on & found some propper 'green lanes'
This next photo looks fun doesn't it, I was at the back on my own & found some serious bog! You don't wanna be out here on your own. :? Everything would be fine one minute & then all of a sudden you're up to your axle in bog.
Superb day though, really glad I made the effort.
As I sit here typing my forearms are still pumped & the buzz is still circulating.
