In 30 hours I head to "That London" to take delivery of my first "Big" KTM.
I already have a 450 and a 625 but the prospect of a nice big twin is making me giddy.
Collect the bike from ST Pancras and then a brisk 164 miles home for the maiden voyage.

Will it have me flogging my 1200 GS???????
:thumb

PS.

A picture of a fit bird because.........................well, just because.:D

Yes

I flogged my 1200 gs and bought. A 990 adv dakar.

Never looked back.

Took it out on the lanes of herts today and trashed the rear tyre.

Brillant !!!

Depends how important road riding is.
+Great engine (bin the std cans), very chuckable, looks the part.
- Fork dive (you get used to), weak front brake (always did stop me when needed -but never felt as if it would!):bounce1:bounce1

No.
The 990 is a great bike, but it's horses for courses, so where the 990 is no mile-muncher, the GS ain't as good on the trails.
The trip back from London will show you that......including the fuel stops.:eek

St Pancras station to the Peak District in 2 hours 40 minutes and I have fallen for the 990 big style.:thumb

Plenty of buffeting as the screen is low but it can cruise at 90 all day it seems.
Left the M1 and it became a monster. The exhaust note I found to be offensive and way to loud......so I will be keeping it exactly as it is!;)

The seat was far from comfy but I did do 4 hours trail riding this morning on my 450 EXC so no doubt that contributed towards it.

Now for some dirt!

Sounds promising :D I pick mine up on Saturday and after a big old heavy 1150rt I'm looking forward to the nibble handling and sweet gearbox .its amazing that BMW still can't make a decent gearbox.(after 95 odd years of trying!!)
Anyway hope you still like it . Any plans for trail riding with it ?:thumb

I`m loving it still. Been taking a couple of green lanes in to and from my 44 mile commute.
Very nimble on the lanes and the front forks are lovely. Going to start playing with suspension settings though to get it perfect.:thumb2

Had a few people asking me to show them the bash plate so here it is:augie
