A dirty weekend with Timolgra!

Great vid ... glad you had a good time with our favourite Hobo :D

Apart from being great fun, off roading is just so good for your riding. Slippy slidey on the dirt, learning to feel and not look ... suddenly those wet tarmac roads on yer road bike are like driving a train on rails!!

Great to see .... :clap

And reacting instinctively to a front wheel slide rather than grabbing a handful of brakes and instantly ending up on your arse.......

I still hate mud though :blast

Great video edit there J, really enjoyed that :clap It isn't often I'll sit and watch one all the way though... I normally lose interest after 30 seconds :D

Trail riding in the dark is good for that:D

Part of what the couple of days was all about, other than to get some miles in and getting a taste of things, was to try and transfer these skills into riding your big GS offroad, perhaps when away on a trip and that gravel road is so tempting. When believe it or not:augie....your sole objective is.... 'not to fall off'!:D

I only took two photos of J.......forgot to put the SD card in my camera:blast

Folks, let's not forget that the video is technically not 'off roading', these are public roads that the County Council has deemed not worth sealing with tarmac. Totally legal to ride with a motorcycle. :thumb2

Yes I agree, the term 'off roading' can be misleading and give the wrong impression, particularly to those opposed to our activity.

Keep the bikes fully road legal and never stray off the legal route:thumb

A lot (nearly all) of my job off roading, is exactly this. Most of us are diehard petrol heads and we're constantly pushing the message 'stay on the Byway - if you come off it and play in the woods you'll piss off the council and if it gets too bad, they'll just restrict the byway and you'll ruin it for everybody' :thumb

Looks like a great couple of days riding.

I feel like I've been adventurous if I ride across the front lawn.

Perhaps I should do some training and take a punt at the non tarmac discipline.

Well if that's not 'off roading' feck knows what is ;)

I guess if you can back Hobo Tim in to a corner and cajole him in to having a couple of days with you then that's better than any two day 'off road' course anywhere else :thumb

Thanks for all the replies, it was a fabulous couple of days, and Tim's encouragement was just the sort needed to keep me going. I really enjoyed the trail riding and very much want to do more. However, just found out that I didn't get the job I've been waiting to hear about, but have got an alternative from end may for a couple of months. Think it'll be a while before I have a bike of my own, I'm hoping by the end of the year I'll have something and then, yes, I'll be joining TRF straight away and finding folks down here to go out and play with.

Tim, thanks for those photos, great to see myself from outside.

Duchess, yes, please post links anywhere you feel it can be of help to people.

You can see a marked difference in the speed of your riding as the video progresses. Well done. :thumb2
