Never say never but it won't work as is. The LED headlight is ecu controlled so it basically has a power supply and the CANbus wires. It doesn't have a high and low supply like your existing headlight. It could be converted but you will need to rework the electronics and build drivers for the LED chips. Go get a HID or LED conversion, I would recommend LED especially for the high beam but it's up to you. There are various thread here regarding both options. Once that is done you will notice a big improvement

I see that it is a massive difference lc to Tc lights
Not thought of led bulbs so need to look into them it would save big £
Don't want cheep jap ones
Any ideas ?
H7 for headlight +side light
H11 ?

Your bulbs are h7. My LED kit came from cyclops but I don't have a GSA anymore. There is a post here where someone got a BMW specific conversion though. The big difference between HID and led is the LED is instant on so works great on high beam. They should last much longer as well and there is zero possibility of the LED damaging the reflector.

See there's a HID kit in the 'For sale' section at this very moment.
HID 50 kit, same as mine. I think it's a good job, but everyone has their own ideas.

The 30watt HID gives 3x more light than a 50watt halogen More light from less power = even less wasted as heat.
The reflector is safer with HID than with halogen. But get a good one or you'll lose all that lovely light into the sky and dazzle everyone.

Not strictly true Bendy. The danger to the reflector is because the heat is more focused. It isn't just the heat either some cheap burners don't filter UV. Have a search and you will find quite a few examples. I didn't have any problems with the kit I had on my GSA neither has many others but it can and does still happen. I thought HID was a vast improvement ever stock as well

I wouldn't put anyone against HID but I would recommend LED over HID where possible. Not many people would buy HID aux lights over LED these days so why put them in your headlight if you have a choice.

Each to their own though and you can get a good HID kit on eBay for not a lot of money. They are a bit of a pain though when used on high beam.

Fully agree that cheap HID is worse than useless.
At the same colour temperature the UV output is likely to be the same for a good HID or a good LED.
I have HID-50 units that do a great job always pass mot and only get flashed when I forget to properly set the up down lever.
The latest generation LEDs with the same lumen value "should" be better but the point focus issue still arises. Cheap will be rubbish and probably not very durable.

And led are cheaper than hid less of a faff outing them in or on the bike I did look at the hid that were up in the for sale section last night but chose not to get then
A as I could get them cheaper fron the site that the person selling them posted to me ( do your reserchurch ) lol
B I like the idea of led cheap enough to Carrie shair if required
C still sat on the fence so to speak

Be carefull about getting cheap LED. Make sure they are what they are supposed to be. Some of them are little more than decoration and won't light the road up. They are bright to look at but have no lumens.

50w Hid vs Led with Cree EHP50 chips.
Bike with Led`s 2012 R1200GS.
Bike with 50w Hid ( with anti glare focused bulb) Not a cheap kit. 2009 R1200GS

H7 Led with EHP50 chips supplied by Horizons Led`s They list these as 4th Gen on the box it says 6th Gen. 22W power consumption each and 3000 lumen’s.
There are no extra boxes / ballast etc. with these and no fan.
Installation was simple using 60mm blanking grommets (not supplied) using a wad punch, punch a 16mm hole in the centre of the blanking grommet.
Remove the adaptor from the bulb (Bayonet fitting) and replace the H7 bulb with the adaptor using original spring clip.
The connector can be left inside the headlight or outside with heat shrink sleeving over it, I opted for the later.
Insert the blanking grommet with the cable tucked into one of the slots used by the original cap lugs. And seal around cable with RTV.
Insert Led bulbs. ( into bayonet adaptor).
The red connector on the main beam fitting is to trigger the relay for a pair of FF50 spot lights.
I have no connection with Horizons just having problems with Hid`s discolouring the reflector.
As can be seen from the photos the Led is better.
Having trouble posting the photos, I can email them or if someone can post them for me.!
