I don't know how much motorcycle riding you have been getting recently but for me its been an all time low. Since the early snows last year I have only done 900 miles, mainly short rides to work etc. Its not been just the weather but a complete feeling of being fed up all the time, weekends come and the Sky's are dark with a very good chance of rain, snow and bitterly cold high winds.
This all changed this weekend, after working on Saturday morning the sky was bright with large patches of blue. I managed a 60 mile short ride without getting cold or wet. Today my wife and I got the bikes out and went to inspect the damage to the roads round Masham, 130 mile round trip with only a bit of rain and cold feet.
I feel full of enthusiasm again, roll on spring, roll on summer, sod that roll on next weekend come rain or shine.

The trick is not to let the crap weather dictate when you can go out. Ive ridden a lot this winter in some vile conditions, but now and again the sun comes out the road dries and you can go for it. Despite that, roll on the summer.

Been out today round Bedale, Leyburn, Richmond etc.
Bike is filthy - but I have a stupid grin on face :D :) :D

The weekend came at last, I think its the first real bikers weekend of 2011.
North Yorkshire moors on Saturday afternoon, a bit cold and rain showers to start but very enjoyable.
Today has been the first day with no rain, blue sky and sunshine with no chance of ice. The roads are still salty but good grip and dry.
I feel good, 2011 should be as good , if not better than 2010.

Quite right.
Mid-January, I had a great ride with friends over to Whitby.
I went up to Perth this weekend for a bike rally. Sunday was glorious weather for a blast down the A68.
The biggest downside to winter riding is washing the bike afterwards :(

Not sure Sooty09 will know what that means :)

I have been out most weekends since early Feb. Heated waistcoats are a Godsend.

Most weekends since early Feb, that will be four times then.

I ride every weekend all year, this last 4 months have been the least enjoyable I can recall. There were a few good rides aver the Christmas holiday and only one rain snow fog wind free weekend this year. I have been out but all runs were less than 75 miles, Sea view café and back etc, not the 200 mile days we enjoyed last year. Im just glad I can see an end to this winter.

Karen and myself got out to Mablethorpe on Sunday, and to top it off beach racing was going on when we arrived. 200 mile a little chilly and a River crossing.
And we managed this on one tank each, on the F800GS and F650GS Twin.

Anyone fancy a meet and a run let us know.

Having complained about the feeling of a poor start to the year I have investigated my weather records and find that 2011 is on paper much better than 2010. The highs and lows are much greater this year, and the rain much heavier in Feb 2011.

The graph below will open in XL and is recorded by my Easy weather station (Maplins) based in Horsforth, Leeds. My records begin late Dec 2010.

What my graphs cannot show is the feel good factor created by clear sky and sunshine. Its probably the lack of that and not the cold which has made me so gloomy up to now.

I am afraid none of that made any sense to me. I just look out the curtains and if it's not snowing or ice we ride. But as you said this weekend was fantastic. We ( my brother and I) had a great ride out on Sunday Fleet moss, Butter tubs, Tan Hill, Reeth, Coverdale. Kettlewell, Littondale and down to Malham. Noyt bad for a quick blast out in the morning. Back home for a late lunch. FANTASTIC. Summer Bring it on.:beerjug::beerjug:
