Great wee bimble yesterday. Left Ullapool at 9.30, coffee at Gairloch, quick blast down to Sheildaig then Applecross Inn for lunch. Afternoon tea at The Waterside cafe, Lochcarron, then back home for 16:30. Met 3 police bikes coming out of Lochcarron. Kept up with them on the single track but they disappeared into distance once back on the main road.
Great day spoiled by discovering a smashed mainbeam lens when I got home. Oh well!!

A fine culinary tour of the UK's finest! Where do you have coffee in Gairloch.....not the hippy druggy anti everything place in the square?

I done virtually the same route on Saturday/Sunday (except Elgin-Elgin) staying overnight in a cabin at Applecross campsite, beer and food at night with good craic with several other bikers staying there.
That 'hippy druggy' cafe does great coffee and the girls who work there are really nice but we had to endure 15 minutes of fkn Hari Krishna chanting on repeat as background music :blast. The lady owner isn't too popular apparently..

The last time I was in there it was stuffed with shite about the badger cull in SW England..........a big issue in Gairloch!

Always go to the coffee shop down near the harbour. Past the wee store and up the steps. New owner this year and very nicely refurbished (the shop that is!).

Ah right...you mean down opposite the Old Inn......I always think of that as Charlestown. Haven't been in for a while but anywhere rather than the hippies!

There's a great wee coffee shop in Poolewe that I use if I'm in the area - The Bridge Cafe:thumb2
It's right in the "town centre" just off the A832 - towards Cove - which is also worth a run down the side of Loch Ewe by the way:thumb2
Must get back up that way soon!!!

Cheers...........................Grizzly:beerjug:

Seconded, the Bridge cafe is lovely.

The Gairloch/Hippy/Badger-cull opposing Cafe owner lady is a bit of a laugh but I can see how some could be offended, she's quite candid... but does cracking coffee.

We are blessed up here :-)

I'll be going back, there was quite a bit of side boobage on display at the weekend so probably worth 15 mins of Krishna chant

The Gairloch/hippy cafe would this by any chance be the mountain view coffe/bookshop in the middle of the village ?
