I'd been looking forward to this ride for a couple of weeks. Work has been pretty mental recently so having a 4 day weekend seemed like a guaranteed time to get a good ride in.

Bike all washed and prepped last night, route decided on and my daughter coming along as pillion - sounded like a perfect day.....so I was more than a bit gutted when after filling up the bike was coughing and spluttering between 3-5k rpm. it looked like the day was off, but after a bit of googling I read about the TPS reset. Didn't hold out much hope, but amazing it fixed it - bike back to good as new!

With an hour or so gone of the day the idea to follow the Stage 1 of last years 'Grand Depart' was amended slightly, and we skipped the Leeds > Ilkley section and rode strain to Grassington via the scenic way. Traffic was a little busy between Kettlewell and Kidstones so we diverted and went up Fleet Moss instead. I've been up there a few times cycling, and never seen it look so clear (or be as easy haha). Arriving into Hawes we went to the creamery and spent the obligatory fortune on cheese (present for the mrs!) but the town and cafe were heaving so we didn't stop for a coffee and instead headed over Buttertubs. Again, I've ridden this plenty of times, but never on such a clear day - the views were absolutely stunning.

Stopped for a bit of lunch at the Punch Bowl in Low Row. The weather now was genuinely warm so it was great to sit outside. Cracking roast beef and blue cheese panini - definitely worth a stop if you're passing.

Then it was back via the Grinton - Leyburn moor road - another cracker before the usual A684 home.

Wonderful day out - nice to spend a bit of time with my daughter (she's got a boyfriend now so days like these are becoming less!) and the bike was perfect (eventually!).

Nice one ..... days like these are indeed precious. :)

Hopefully riding some of this at the weekend on the way up to the lakes. Riding from the east coast over to Harrogate then grassington and up to hawes via the butter tubs

Lovely pics, not been out in the Dales this weekend - I was further north

Who needs abroad when you have views & weather like this in Britain

It's the Yorkshire Dales ;) Quite a bit of it is in the West Riding :P

I haven't had a proper ride into the Dales yet this year - maybe later as it looks like another glorious day out there
