Background:
I rode a 50cc and a 125cc bike when i was 16 and 17. 15 years later I decided to take my bike test. Picked my first bike, a brand new 1200GS on 1st Sept. Went away on business 3rd Sept. Had my first decent ride today!!!
I had such a great time!! I am pretty careful on the bike as I am well aware that altough I passed a test, I still have a lot to learn but I find the bike so easy to ride that I soon get passed being nervous and really enjoy it. I left Reading about 11am and without any sort of plan I headed towards Basingstoke, after reaching Basingstoke I remembered a route my instructor took me on to SPC in Alton and headed that way. I had some trouble finding SPC, but did evetually only to find it closed, so I just kept going!!! I eventually came to a cross roads which had a very high population of all sorts of bikers and a tea van so decided to stop for a while. After a coffee, a bacon sarnie and a chat with a GoldWing owner I set off again and did not stop until Port Solent????
I had no idea where I was and no idea of the way home - it was perfect!! So headed off and found myself going to Brighton on the A27 and getting a sore neck from nodding to so many bikers going in the opposite direction. I then saw a sign for Guildford so decided to take it and head for Vines. Along the way I passed a Red GS waiting to turn into the road I was on and then had him catch up with me a mile or so later. He followed me for a while and then dissapeared, it was cool to see another GS out there!! I then saw a group of sports bikes acting like complete d!cks riding through a 30 at about 60 and then stopping in the middle of a mini roundabout for a chat!!!!
So I eventually got home around 5pm after a stop at Vines for a coffee and felt fantastic. The bike is so much better than I hoped, no aches, a little numbness at times but so much fun to ride. As the day went on my confidence built up and I got more used to getting the right lines and keeping it smooth through corners.
I cant wait for the ride to work tomorrow morning!!
Cheers
