You guys don't know how lucky you are, having the option of riding the Adventure.

I saw one and fell in love – strike that – lust.

Chucked me leg over it and hey presto, … I couldn’t lift the damn think off the side stand :-(

At 5’10” I’m just too much of a short arse.

So what did I do? I went for the sensible option and forked out for a new GS (which I pick up as soon as Carole Nash get the cover note through).

After all, you’re only here once, and the bank manager wouldn’t have been half as impressed if I’d gone for an 1100GS with umpteen thousand miles on the clock, now would he? :D

We'll ask him in 36 months time:D

BM. How did you know that 36 was the magic number?

..why do I get the feeling that I’m careering down the slope to financial ruin, just ‘cos I’m getting a GS?

All I want to do is see some more of the world. Preferably with me behind the heated grips.

I haven’t even had ‘me leg over (my GS) yet and the spend list keeps growing.

Dear God, why did I think that owning a GS might be sensible?

No, no, no … run away. Don’t even test ride one. Awful things. Beards, pipes and ‘sensible’ clothing.

Stick to rice rockets and fluorescent leathers, now there’s sensible motorcycling. ;)

Couldn't have put it better myself,Tim........good to see we're on the same wavelength, yet again........
You forgot ................ better seat, adjustable screen, lower to ground and the fact that more standard 1150GS's are sold, over Adventurers by a figure of 2.5-3:1,the whole world over.
That speaks volumes.
Save your cash to spend on accessories........
says the man who's just chopped in a std 1150 for an ADV :D

Ah yes, but our Johnny is going to upgrade the Adv to a std 1150 with bigger tank. Hope he paints it red though.:)

Thanks Tim for the vote of confidence.

I'm only going for the ADV now,as BMW have stopped production of the GS1150 - so I can't get a good deal on one from a dlr, who's still got one to sell.
So I'm going for the ADV1150 and I'm going to put GS1150 Ohlins, centre stand and a dual seat set up with the Corbin.
So it'll be a hybrid.
The better p/ex price from Rainbow covers the extra cost of the ADV over and above what the other poxy main dealers would offer.
Plus the 2004 price of the ADV has just dropped by £150-200,so the deal is getting better all the time...............
Sorry Tim, it's going to be Silver at present
