After lengthy consultation with Ricardo (here )I've just gone through the process of raising the seat on my 1100.

Start by taking the seat off. Don't clean it, ride it! ...

Then the rear rack ...

to get at ther rear seat mounting points. Take them off and cut a spacer to fit underneath (scrap alloy, plastic, whatever takes your fancy)

I used some scrap recycled plastic work surface. Drill to fit and replace with longer bolts to accommodate the spacer.

you can only get away with about 2 cm at the rear before it fouls with the rear rack.

then whack the seat back on ...

Now it's 3cm higher at the front and 2cm higher at the back. Great ergonomics but there's a nasty great gap between the tank and seat. I reckon I can fill that with a bit of Alaska Butt Pad, when I get it.

But I recommend this only for the long of leg ...

The lock actuating bar is in a black plastic casing, that pivots around the lock barrel. So just raising the mount lifts the bar up too. You can just see it in the 5th pic. Seems to work ok too.
