I have just created a day out in France, starting and ending in Calais. No big deal you might think, until you learn:
1. It was created in BaseCamp on a Mac
2. I did it all myself
3. It was made in map version City Navigator Europe NTU 2018.1
4. I made it without reference to or help from 'Avoiding motorways' or 'Windy roads'
5. I transferred it to a Navigator VI by right clicking on the folder and selecting 'Send to your device', selecting Routes and Waypoints (I need those on the day) from the tick box menu
6. It transferred in the blink of an eye
7. My Navigator VI detected that it had received new data and asked if I'd like to import it there and then? I wanted to, so I said 'Yes'
8. The route imported
9. It was all there. It was of the correct length, the right shape and not a series of straight lines across unknown fields
10. In all, it took me about 15 minutes, start to finish .... including finding my Navigator VI
11. Just in case it was a fluke, I then sent the same route from my Mac to a Navigator V.... Well blow me.... It all went through, just the same
I hope this tale is an inspiration to those who say it can't be done, it's all poo, Garmin is crap and their maps are crap and their software is crap and everything is crap and that they should have bought a TomTom. As regards the latter? Yes, maybe they should have done.
